People are often afraid of brokenness, their own as well as other’s. I was “chided” several months ago for using (and referring to) the term and the concept too often. Yet, my transparency regarding my own brokenness (which is significant) opened the hearts of many to reflect on and to share their own. To be broken is to be approachable. To be broken is to give permission to others to acknowledge, even embrace their own. It’s in our brokenness that God reveals himself to us and through us. We can’t begin the journey to wholeness and health if we don’t recognize the true condition of our lives.

You have hit on an important subject. The “perfectly put together” are not approachable; to others or God. The cracks of brokenness are the cracks God uses to get into our soul so he can do his work there.
